What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is not a payment method in its own right. It holds no balance and moves no money — it is a faster way to present a card the customer already has. When someone pays with it, a Visa, Mastercard or Amex payment happens underneath, using a device-specific token instead of the real card number.

What changes is everything the customer has to do. There is no card number to find, no expiry date to squint at, no address to type: the card, the billing address and the shipping address all come from the device, confirmed with Face ID or Touch ID. On a phone that removes the single worst part of any checkout — a form typed with thumbs — which is why the conversion difference shows up most clearly on mobile traffic. It also works in Safari on a Mac, where the confirmation hops to the customer’s iPhone or Watch.

For you the accounting is unchanged. The payment is a card payment, priced at your normal card rate, settled on your normal card schedule, and subject to the same dispute rules. Apple takes no cut from you and we add no fee for it. The only thing to get right is placement: Apple Pay only earns its conversion lift when the button sits above the form, not hidden below it.

Why Apple Pay, and why through Checky Pro

The top row is the method itself; the bottom row is what our platform adds on top of it.

No form to fill

Card, billing address and shipping address come from the device. The part of checkout where mobile customers give up simply does not happen.

Tokenised by default

Your checkout never sees a real card number — only a device token. Biometric confirmation also satisfies most step-up authentication.

No premium for the convenience

It is priced exactly as the card underneath it. Apple takes nothing from you and we add nothing on top.

Placed where it converts

Our checkout puts the express buttons above the form by default, which is the only place they actually shorten anything.

Routes that recover declines

A tokenised payment that declines on one acquiring route retries on the next — the same protection your other card payments get.

One balance across methods

Wallet payments land in the same balance and payout schedule as cards and local methods. One reconciliation.

How an Apple Pay payment works

From click to balance — what your customer sees, and what happens behind it.

  1. 1

    Taps the Apple Pay button

The express button sits above the form, so the customer never reaches the card fields.

  2. 2

    Confirms with Face ID

Card and addresses come straight from the device — nothing to type.

  3. 3

    Authorised in seconds

A tokenised card payment takes the best-performing acquiring route.

  4. 4

    Settled to your balance

Added to your Checky Pro balance and paid out in 3–7 business days.

Apple Pay, answered

Still something open? The team answers on WhatsApp, usually the same day.

Does Apple Pay cost extra?

No. It is priced as the card underneath it — from 2,95% + € 0,25 for an EEA card. Apple charges you nothing and we add no wallet fee.

Which cards can my customers use with it?

Whatever they have added to their device — Visa, Mastercard or American Express. The rate that applies is the rate for that card, so an Amex in Apple Pay is charged at the Amex rate.

Does it work on desktop?

Yes, in Safari on a Mac. The confirmation happens on the customer’s iPhone or Apple Watch and the payment completes in the browser.

Can I use Apple Pay for subscriptions?

Yes. The device token can be stored and charged again, so recurring billing works the same way it does with a saved card.

Do Apple Pay payments still get chargebacks?

They can — it is a card payment underneath, so the same dispute rules apply. In practice biometric confirmation makes fraud disputes rarer than on a typed card number.
