Accept Visa payments with Checky Pro
The most widely carried card in the world, in a checkout built to convert — with a published rate card and settlement you can plan around.
New here? Checky Pro is the payments & checkout platform for modern e-commerce — Visa is one of the 21 payment methods you can switch on today.
What is Visa?
Visa is the largest of the card networks. Like Mastercard it issues nothing itself: banks issue the cards, and Visa runs the rails that carry an authorisation from the customer’s bank to yours. What it buys you is reach — a Visa card works the same in Rotterdam as it does in Lisbon or Los Angeles.
One thing worth correcting: most people call it a credit card, but in large parts of Europe a Visa card in someone’s wallet is a debit card drawing straight from their current account. Both run through the same checkout flow and cost you the same to accept, so the distinction rarely matters operationally — but it does explain why Visa turns up in markets where credit cards are uncommon.
In practice Visa and Mastercard are not a choice between two options; they are the pair that keeps a checkout open to everyone. Offering one without the other quietly excludes whichever half of your visitors happens to carry the other, and there is no upside to that: the pricing and the settlement are identical.

Why Visa, and why through Checky Pro
The top row is the method itself; the bottom row is what our platform adds on top of it.
The widest reach there is
More people carry a Visa card than any other payment credential on earth. For a cross-border order it is usually the one that works.
Debit and credit, one flow
In much of Europe a Visa card is a debit card. Both behave the same in your checkout and cost the same to accept.
Authentication that shifts liability
When the issuing bank asks for Visa Secure, the customer verifies in their own banking app — and liability for that payment moves to the bank.
Routes that recover declines
Multiple acquiring partners sit behind your checkout — a decline on one route retries on the next, the difference between a lost order and a sale.
Pricing you can check
One blended rate per region, on a public rate card — every transaction shows what was charged, what the fee was and what you keep.
Disputes handled early
Card issuers often warn us before a chargeback is filed. Refund inside that window and it never becomes a dispute.
How a Visa payment works
From click to balance — what your customer sees, and what happens behind it.
- 1

- 2
Bank verifies
Visa Secure runs when the issuing bank asks for it, in the customer’s own banking app.
- 3

What does accepting Visa cost?
Visa is priced like every card on our public rate card: 2,95% + € 0,25 for EEA cards, +1% for UK cards and +1,75% for premium, business and international cards. The € 0,25 is part of the price, so there is no separate fee per authorization attempt. The UK, US and Hong Kong prices are on our pricing page.
Is there a price difference between Visa and Mastercard?
No. Both are priced the same on our rate card, and both settle in 3–7 business days. There is no commercial reason to offer one and not the other.
Do debit and credit Visa cards work the same?
Yes. Both go through the same checkout flow, the same authentication and the same settlement. The difference sits with the customer’s bank, not with your checkout.
Do I need to set up Visa Secure myself?
No — 3-D Secure is built into the checkout. The issuing bank decides when a payment needs verification, and when it does, liability shifts to the bank.
Can UK companies accept Visa through Checky Pro?
Yes. Visa is available for companies in the EU, the UK, the US and Hong Kong. UK companies are priced per the UK rate card: UK cards at the base rate, EEA cards with a 1% surcharge.
