New here? Checky Pro is the payments & checkout platform for modern e-commerce — Mastercard is one of the 21 payment methods you can switch on today.

What is Mastercard?

Mastercard is one of the two card networks that move most of the world’s online card payments. It doesn’t issue cards itself — banks do — but it runs the rails between the customer’s bank and yours, which is why a Mastercard payment works the same whether your customer is in Amsterdam, Austin or Hong Kong.

For customers, paying by card is the default they fall back on when a local method isn’t offered — and for cross-border orders it is usually the first choice. Debit and credit Mastercards both run through the same checkout flow, and card-backed wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay are Mastercard payments underneath.

For merchants, that makes Mastercard the baseline of any payment mix: it doesn’t win a single market the way iDEAL wins the Netherlands — it keeps every market open at once.

Why Mastercard, and why through Checky Pro

The top row is the method itself; the bottom row is what our platform adds on top of it.

Every market at once

Local methods win single countries; Mastercard keeps all of them open. For cross-border orders it is usually the first card your customer reaches for.

Wallets ride on it

Apple Pay and Google Pay payments are card payments underneath — offering Mastercard is what makes the one-tap wallet buttons work.

Trust on both sides

Customers know the brand at the moment of doubt, and 3-D Secure shifts liability for verified payments to the issuing bank.

Routes that recover declines

Multiple acquiring partners sit behind your checkout — a decline on one route retries on the next, the difference between a lost order and a sale.

Pricing you can check

One blended rate per region, on a public rate card — every transaction shows what was charged, what the fee was and what you keep.

Disputes handled early

Card issuers often warn us before a chargeback is filed. Refund inside that window and it never becomes a dispute.

How a Mastercard payment works

From click to balance — what your customer sees, and what happens behind it.

  1. 1

    Customer pays

Card details entered once — or one tap via a saved card or wallet.

  2. 2

    Bank verifies

3-D Secure runs when the issuing bank asks for it, in the customer’s own banking app.

  3. 3

    Authorised in seconds

The payment takes the best-performing acquiring route. If one route declines, the next one tries.

  4. 4

    Settled to your balance

Added to your Checky Pro balance and paid out in 3–7 business days.

What does accepting Mastercard cost?

Mastercard is priced like every card on our public rate card: 2,95% + € 0,25 for EEA cards, +1% for UK cards and +1,75% for premium, business and international cards. The € 0,25 is part of the price, so there is no separate fee per authorization attempt. The UK, US and Hong Kong prices are on our pricing page.

Do I need to set up 3-D Secure?

No — it is built into the checkout. The issuing bank decides when a payment needs verification; when it does, the customer confirms in their own banking app and liability shifts to the bank.

When do I receive the money?

Mastercard payments settle into your Checky Pro balance in 3–7 business days, and pay out on your regular payout schedule. Balance and payouts are visible per store in the dashboard.

Can UK companies accept Mastercard through Checky Pro?

Yes. Mastercard is available for companies in the EU, the UK, the US and Hong Kong. UK companies are priced per the UK rate card: UK cards at the base rate, EEA cards with a 1% surcharge.

Does this cover Apple Pay and Google Pay too?

Wallets are separate methods you switch on, but the payments they carry are card payments — so your Mastercard setup, pricing and settlement apply there as well.
